You could find yourself on our fast-paced trading floor or developing hands-on skills and technical knowledge on our upstream and downstream programmes. Equally, you could be developing your talents in a range of business roles. Wherever you join, you’ll work with expert teams who will respect your abilities, and you’ll make a genuine impact as you get the training you need to build a successful career.
What we look for
It takes drive, hard work and talent to do well at BP. But we also value courage, curiosity and an eagerness to learn and get involved. You’ll need a strong academic record too, from the qualifications you gained at school to your continued performance at university.
So you’ll either have, or be set to get, a good degree in a relevant subject.

We employ around 80,000 people in almost 80 countries worldwide
Our business is split across four areas:
Upstream is responsible for our activities in oil and natural gas exploration, field development and production, and midstream transportation, storage and processing.
Downstream is the part of our business that takes those raw materials and turns them into the products that heat, power and transport the world. Here, we also develop new products for our global brands to market – that could be anything from cleaner-burning transport fuels to more energy efficient engine lubricants.
Integrated supply and trading (IST) works in close partnership with upstream and downstream, providing the commercial face for BP. It enhances BP’s group value through the application of distinctive supply, trading, risk management and information technology skills, underpinned by a world-class control infrastructure.
Corporate and functions (C&F) is the backbone of BP, providing essential, specialist activity and advice to all areas of the company.
